WATERVILLE, OHIO — RiverFront Studios unveiled an unexpected new drive-thru program Thursday evening after a black Lincoln Aviator entered the downtown art and music studio without using a traditional doorway.

The SUV shattered glass and damaged a wall while students and staff were inside. Fortunately, no one was injured.

“We’ve always wanted to make the arts more accessible,” owner Michael Puppos said. “But until Thursday, we were still pretty committed to people using the door.”

Puppos confirmed the new drive-thru option was not part of RiverFront’s fall programming and that the Lincoln’s driver had apparently skipped the normal registration process.

Nearby businesses reported hearing a loud crash and feeling their buildings shake. One employee initially dismissed the noise, saying, “We hear that sometimes,” before discovering that a vehicle had, in fact, entered a neighboring business.

“This is probably the biggest thing to happen in Waterville since the Roche de Boeuf Festival got rained out last weekend,” one downtown resident said. “And honestly, we were still processing that.”

Crews boarded up the damaged area Friday while RiverFront assessed its next steps.

Puppos said future students should continue parking outside.

“Paintbrushes, guitars, whatever you need, bring it in,” he said. “The Lincoln stays on the street.”

Authorities have not announced what caused the crash.
